Today I wanted to show you my take on the Emilia Clarke makeup look from the Golden Globes (More on my favorite looks from the 2016 Golden Globes here).
It’s more of an “inspired by” as opposed to a direct replica – I wanted to create a soft look that would be appropriate for work. Since her look was so soft and simple to begin with, this wasn’t a challenge, and I really like the way it came out. Read on to see how I got this Emilia Clarke makeup look!
Over the Christmas holidays, aside from having deep thoughts while cleaning, I also headed to my friend’s salon to get my hair done. It’s been a while since I’ve done a non-natural colour (hot pink a few years ago), and I was getting restless to try something new.
As laughable as this may seem, I think pastel purple hair is a step in a more mature direction (as compared to hot pink), and a little more fashionable too. I was also thinking that in several years my face won’t be so young anymore (I’m 29), which will make pulling off any colour with grey tones more difficult. Not to mention that my job, working for myself as a piano teacher, doesn’t come with a dress code. So I figured, no time like the present!
Today, for my first-ever makeup post, I decided to do a tutorial on my favourite eyeshadow single, Urban Decay Lounge. Lounge is a Duochrome shade, a deep brown that shifts green. It’s really complex, but really flattering – and super easy to apply and wear.
In the pan it reads quite green, but on the eye the brown comes out much more clearly.
Urban Decay Lounge looks just a little edgy, but it’s still wearable on a day to day basis. Plus, it goes great with flannel, which is mandatory this time of year.
Here’s a before and after of the whole look – bare face to follow!
